Fair use and limits.
Kata AI has generous limits, set so that almost nobody meets them. Here is what they are on every plan, and what happens if you ever do.
What counts
Fair use applies only to coach messages, the AI part. Logging, charts, streaks, every data view and everything non-AI is unlimited on every plan, always. One coach message often logs several things at once, so a real day rarely spends more than a handful.
The allowances

Every new account starts with 30 days of Kata Plus, so the first month runs at the Plus allowance. The plans themselves are on Plans and fair use.
What happens at the edge
The coach does not slam a door. If you pass the included usage on Free or Plus, it keeps working and, only when it fits naturally, adds one line at the end of a reply: you can finish today and, if you want to keep this pace, tomorrow is a good moment to upgrade. It never nags twice in a row, and it stays quiet altogether in a sensitive moment.
Far above that sits a hard monthly ceiling that exists only to stop abuse: 1,500 messages on Free and 4,000 on Plus, well past what normal heavy use ever reaches. Past 2,500 messages in a month on any plan, replies keep coming on the fast model and new photo analyses rest until the next month, said in one calm line; the text still gets a full answer.
Voice and Talk are metered separately
Kata voices and Talk to Kata have their own, separate monthly allowance, not counted against your coach messages here: 60 interactions a month on Kata Plus, 400 on Kata Unlimited, none on Kata Free. The details are on the Voice page.
Usage is an aggregate message count tied to your account for billing. The content of what you said is never part of it. See What the servers do.
