Kata on Android.

The same Kata as on iPhone and the web, on your Android phone: one account, one chat, every screen. It is in Google Play, for Android 8.0 and newer.

Install

  1. Open Google Play on a phone with Android 8.0 or newer and search for "Kata".
  2. Install it and open Kata.
  3. Sign in with email and password, Google or Apple. A new account starts with a two-minute setup in the chat.
  4. Say yes to notifications if you want reminders outside the app, and connect Health Connect if you want your steps, workouts and nights to arrive on their own.

Already use Kata on iPhone or the web? Sign in with the same account and your plan comes with you. Your logs live on each device, so bring them across as Backups on Android explains.

The same Kata

  • The chat that logs meals, training, sleep and supplements in one sentence, typed or spoken, and answers from your own numbers. See The Kata chat.
  • Talk, the spoken conversation with Kata, on Kata Plus and Kata Unlimited.
  • The scanner: a barcode becomes the product from Open Food Facts, with a score made for you, free on every plan. See Nutrition.
  • Photos of a plate or a lab report, read on Kata Plus and Kata Unlimited. The photo goes to our AI provider to be read: Kata keeps no copy, and the provider deletes it within 30 days and does not train on it.
  • Every screen: Today, Nutrition, Activity, Sleep, Mind, Supplements, Biomarkers and your trends.
  • WHOOP, connected the same way, and your plan, which belongs to your account, not to the phone.

What Android does its own way

  • Health Connect instead of Apple Health: read-only, the last 30 days.
  • Backups on Android: Android's own Google backup, plus a sealed copy whose key Google keeps for you, so a new phone opens it.
  • Notifications on Android: reminders arrive through Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Android's battery saving can hold them back.
  • Speech: when you speak to Kata or use Talk, your phone's own speech recognition turns your words into text. Kata receives the text, never a recording.

iPhone only

  • The Apple Watch app and the widgets for the Home Screen: see Watch and widgets. Android has neither.
  • Apple Health, which exists on iPhone only. On Android, Health Connect does its job.

Plans on Android

The first Android version sells nothing in the app. Until 15 November 2026 Kata is free for everyone, every function included; from 16 November every account gets 30 days of Kata Plus and then keeps the free core. A plan you already hold reaches the Android app with your account, and buying in Google Play comes with a later version. See Plans and fair use.

Delete your account

Delete account sits at the very bottom of your Profile, as on iPhone, and asks whether the backups on this phone go too. The steps for every device, and the way to ask by email, are on yourkata.com/delete-account.
