On your wrist, on your Home Screen.
Your day should be a glance away. On Apple Watch you talk to Kata from your wrist and keep your numbers on the watch face; on the iPhone, widgets put them on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
Kata on your wrist
The watch app opens on the living circle. Tap it and talk: Kata answers in the chat, the next page, in a sentence or two, and it reads the heart rate and HRV your watch measures, so a question about your recovery gets today's numbers. Turn the Digital Crown to reach Data, your day at a glance: protein, water and your day score from your iPhone, next to the movement, heart rate and workouts the watch sees itself. Profile comes last.
Tell the watch about a meal, a glass of water or a session and Kata answers on the wrist. When there is something to save, the watch says it is ready to lock in on your iPhone: the card waits in the chat there, and one tap locks it in. Nothing is saved from the wrist on its own.
Signing in on the watch
There is nothing to set up. With your iPhone nearby and signed in to Kata, the watch takes the session over from it on its own. If that cannot happen, the watch offers to sign in with your email and password instead, typed, scribbled or dictated.
Complications for the watch face
Kata ships eight complications. Add the ones you want to your face and the day reads itself without opening anything; each one opens Kata at the right place.
- Day score: your day score on the face.
- Protein: progress toward your protein goal, and the grams still to go.
- Water: today's water toward its goal.
- Move: your active energy today.
- Streak: your run of good days.
- Kata day: the whole day in one rectangular glance.
- Duo: the shared dot with your Duo.
- Talk to Kata: one tap into a conversation on the wrist.
With nothing logged yet today, a complication reads not yet, never a zero pretending to be a measurement.
Widgets for the Home Screen
On the iPhone, the Kata widget comes in two sizes: small carries your day score, medium adds the protein ring, your water and your streak. On the Lock Screen, a small glance keeps your score and protein in sight. Tap one and it opens straight to where that number lives.
Current, with no round trip
Complications and widgets read from what is already on your iPhone and your watch, so they stay current without a round trip to a server. There is nothing to configure beyond choosing what to show.
The watch app, the complications and the widgets are free forever, with no subscription needed. A question to Kata on the wrist counts like any other message to Kata. See Plans and fair use.
