Apple Health and Health Connect.
On a phone you already carry, steps and activity are free data. Kata reads them from Apple Health on iOS and Health Connect on Android, on your terms.
Which one you get
On iPhone and Apple Watch, Kata connects to Apple Health. On Android, it connects to Google Health Connect (which needs the Health Connect app present on the device). Both bring the same kind of thing into Kata: your steps, activity and workouts.
Permissions stay with the OS
You grant access in the system health permission screen, not inside Kata, and you can revoke it there at any time. Turning access off simply stops the daily imports; nothing already in Kata is affected.
How imports behave
- Imported entries are tagged as coming from Health and deduplicated per day.
- Kata syncs a rolling recent window, roughly the last week, once a day.
- Your own logs are never overwritten. If you logged a workout by hand, the importer does not touch it.
- Edit an imported entry and it becomes yours; the importer then leaves that value alone for good.
- If an imported entry disappears upstream, Kata cleans it up within the sync window, without touching anything you entered.
Until it is on for you
If a platform is not connected yet, just tell the coach ("12k steps today") and it counts fully. Nothing is lost by logging the simple way.
